Semiactive Tuned Mass Dampers
Studies have already demonstrated the successful use of linear semiactive damping devices, such as variable orifice (VO) dampers, for semiactive TMD systems. More recently, nonlinear semiactive damping devices, such as magnetorheological (MR) dampers, have also been shown to be effective for semiactive control of TMDs. Though semiactive dampers differ widely, with responses ranging from linear ...
متن کاملStability and Hopf Bifurcation in Differential Equations with One Delay
A class of parameter dependent differential equations with one delay is considered. A decomposition of the parameter space into domains where the corresponding characteristic equation has a constant number of zeros with positive real part is provided. The local stability analysis of the zero solution and the computation of all Hopf bifurcation points with respect to the delay is given.
متن کاملTuned Mass Dampers in Passenger Cars
It is very well known that tuned mass dampers are engineered to minimise the vibrations in buildings in earthquake prone areas and in some cases machinery [1]. This paper evaluates the utility of Tuned Mass Dampers in passenger cars. For the same suspension system, addition of a tuned mass was found to reduce the transmissibility by a considerable amount. Addition of a tuned mass also helps in ...
متن کاملDouble Hopf Bifurcation with Huygens Symmetry
Double Hopf bifurcations have been studied prior to this work in the generic nonresonant case and in certain strongly resonant cases, including 1:1 resonance. In this paper, the case of symmetrically coupled identical oscillators, motivated by the classic problem of synchronization of Huygens’ clocks, is studied using the codimension-three Elphick–Huygens equivariant normal form presented here....
